ASSESSMENT
MyUS realized that the process was extremely labor intensive and prone to human error with so many packages being manually scanned, weighed and measured. TriFactor determined there was a need to provide and mechanically and electrically install powered accumulation conveyor, dimensioner, scanner and scale to capture the data on inbound received packages in order to automate and speed up the logging process.

SOLUTION
The system provided included an accumulation conveyor for unloading inbound packages that had an integrated dimension, weigh and scan (DWS) tunnel complete with optical character recognition (OCR) software. The accumulation conveyor system used motorized driven rollers in small zones in order to singulate the packages prior to the DWS tunnel. At the DWS tunnel, a five sided camera system not only takes multiple digital images of the package and sends those files to the host computer system, but it also records and send the packages physical dimensions and captures and reads the parcel carriers’ label information.

While conveying through the DWS tunnel, the package is also weighed using an inline precision scale. After the DWS tunnel, the packages are conveyed to the logging workstations for associates to pull off of the line and accomplish the remaining logging tasks.

RESULT
MyUS is now able to document as much as 30% more packages per day, freeing up personnel to perform other related duties.
