Case Study - Wholesale Distribution

Company Description

D&H Distributing is one of America's oldest & largest wholesale products distributors with an impressive 85-year history. D&H distributed the first color television and home computer, even the very first gaming system. With five distribution centers across the country to serve customers, D&H Distributing reaches far beyond this 85,000 sq. ft. location in Jacksonville, Florida.

Situation

Rows of Pallet Rack

With a growing business, D&H needed to make their new facility more efficient and allow for increased throughput.  The variety of products handled called for effective picking, but also plenty of material handling storage.  These competing needs led D&H to use TriFactor’s material handling experience.

Assessment

D&H enlisted TriFactor’s expertise to provide them with the best possible material handling solution.  TriFactor provided an analysis of both new and used equipment creating a value based solution for D&H.  The complexity of the operation required the TriFactor engineers to create a unique solution.

Solution

TriFactor installed pick modules as well as rack and shelving supported by workstations and stretch wrappers.  This solution increased available floor space and provided for better utilization of both cube and aisle spacing for efficient picking and replenishment.

Result

Efficiencies in both pallet and carton flow have translated into accurate picking and increased throughput resulting in savings and increased ROI.  TriFactor’s ability to respond quickly during installation as well as daily operations has proven to be valuable to D&H Distributing’s bottom line.
