Installation and Service Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the VP of Operations, works closely with customers, sales representatives, engineers, project managers, installers, and technicians in supervising the installation and service of material handling equipment, including installation personnel supervision, installation cost estimation and fulfillment, warranty procedures and planned and emergency maintenance services.

  • Strives at all times to provide premier service to both internal and external customers.

  • Provides accurate and competitive installation cost estimates.

  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures as well as complying with legal regulations 

Management

  • Directs a small team of installation technicians, journeymen and foremen in the service and installation of material handling equipment, including scheduling, safety, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.  Also includes managing subcontracted temporary labor in support of installation project needs.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Utilizes leadership and organizational skills to continuously counsel and improve performance of direct reports.

Service

  • Coordinates and schedules planned maintenance inspections with customers who have planned maintenance contracts.
  • Responds to service calls from new or existing customers seeking service support.
  • Generates proposals for service sales utilizing a quick turn-around process at competitive prices.
  • Dispatches service technicians in accordance with signed service contracts.
  • Assists service technicians in diagnosing parts issues with customers and source replacements considering the customer’s operational and budgetary requirements.
  • Manages the service schedule, insuring proper financial reporting and management of direct labor.
  • Utilizes TriFactor resource management software to properly document all transactions, activities and cases with existing and new customers.

Installation (Proposal Phase)

  • Provides estimation of costs for project installations using in house estimates, as well as preferred vendors’ proposals.
  • Develops and refines automated estimate calculators in order to generate a quick turnaround installation estimated cost.

Installation (Fulfillment Phase)

  • Coordinates with project managers to develop installation schedules and manages the direct labor force, subcontracted labor force and support equipment associated with the project.
  • Develops and implements the weekly project installation status report for proper dissemination.
  • Compares actual installation job costs to estimated job costs and determines the sources of error and makes improvements.
  • Follows up with customers after installation completion to solicit customer satisfaction surveys.

Maintenance/Fabrication

  • Develops, implements, and maintains a program for maintenance and service of Company vehicles and other capital equipment.
  • Ensures the shop and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe fashion.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of the corporate building and ensures the maximization of the lifecycle of the building systems and aesthetics.
  • Coordinates the fabrication of conveyor support structures, including header and hanger steel and floor support steel.
  • Coordinates the fabrication of industrial control panels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of experience in conveyor systems installation and serviice.
  • Leadership/Management experience supervising a minimum of 10 direct reports (technicians).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of information in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products and use of the Internet.
  • Superior mechanical aptitude and ability to provide technical analysis.
  • Demonstrated outstanding performance in previous career.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Individuals in this position must have the ability to

  • communicate verbally and in written form
  • sit or stand as needed
  • regularly walk or move between and within various locations throughout the day
  • move freely around a manufacturing plant and equipment
  • move in and around small spaces
  • climb up and down a ladder
  • reach above shoulder heights or below the waist and
  • frequently lift objects up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift objects up to 75 lbs. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel as required to support Company needs, up to 25%. Most of the travel is local to Central Florida with occasional required visits out of state.
